So I'm giving the blog thingy a try...
I have never blogged before, so we'll see how this goes. First, in case you haven't heard... I am off again. Yes, me. I'm sure you are all very surprised (sarcasm). I know, I am NEVER at home. I promise I'll start sticking around more often, but this trip is a must. I am heading to Cape Town, South Africa. My friend, Jennie, and myself are volunteering in an orphanage there. I'm getting pretty stoked about it... we leave in 4 days!
So, since I haven't left you I don't have too much to talk about. I have just been planning and getting ready for the trip this past month. I am pretty broke (between school and traveling) so I did some fundraising stuff this month. After exams I sent out some letters to friends and family to see if they had any odd jobs for me to do for some extra cash. I planned to get a job as well, but apparently people don't like to hire and train employees who only plan on sticking around for 3 weeks. Who knew? But I had a great response to my letters, am I am very thankful for that. I really appreciated the support I got. I did have some work to do in exchange for the donations, but I know I definitely got the better end of the deal. I shoveled driveways, ran errands, cleaned houses and helped with some club volleyball try outs... and after all that I am pleased to say that I have covered my flight! So thanks so much everybody, for your support.
So, I think that is all for now. At least you all know what I am up to now. I leave on January 4th, and I will start blogging some more when I get settled in. So please check back to see what I'm up to for the next little bit. And I would love to hear what everybody else is up to as well. So keep me updated! I'll miss you all!
